Film student gets premiere work experience

A student from Coleg Gwent recently worked on a short film for the British Film Institute’s (BFI) Film Academy. Media student, Tara Williams was selected to attend the BFI to work with a team of candidates from across the UK, to produce a short film.
Crosskeys Campus student Tara attended the two week course in London. During her time there she helped produce a romantic comedy called ‘Jigsaw’. Tara gained experience of all aspects of film making such as pre-production, filming and editing.
The experience into the world of filmmaking also included a premiere of Tara’s film, in front of a full audience at the BFI Southbank in London.
There was also an opportunity to meet professional filmmakers such as Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat, who shared helpful tips for a career in the film industry.
Tara was one of 66 people to be selected to attend the film academy, after she submitted a showreel of her work.
Tara said: “For someone like me who is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about filmmaking it felt like a dream. It was an amazing experience which I would highly recommend anyone interested in the film industry to apply next year
